The story

A GROWING COMPANY

Company’s history starts with the challenge faced by a man - Giuseppe Capellini – who draws on the experience gained since his young age to set up his firm.

It’s 1969 and Giuseppe Capellini is backed up by his wife Santina, and aftwerwards by his sons, Davide and Dario. The family has grown since then and so has the team of experts employed in the company. Today Capellini is a big workteam.

Until the 1990s grinding work the company’s main activity. The extensive expertise gained until then is more than enough to pass to manufacture a product of excellence - the electrospindle - which requires the utmost accuracy, eagerness to research, and passion for innovation.

1969

Capellini was born as a third-party grinding service

1979

The first warehouse of the current headquarters is built

1982

Production of machine tool components developed and managed internally begins

1989

The company equips itself with its first CNC grinding machine (Tacchella Grindflex)

1991

The first CNC grinding machine fully equipped with Capellini spindles (Novamodul) has been acquired.

1994

The Technical Office is designed and set up internally

1995

The first milling electrospindle is built

1996

The company expands: the second warehouse is built

1997

The department for turning and milling of internal components is designed

1998

The first automatic test bench for electrospindles is created

1999

New precision equipment: the metrology room is set up

2000

The company, from a single-member company, becomes an LLC.

2001

The first patent for an electrospindle with automatic extension recognition is filed

2002

Capellini obtains ISO 9001 certification

2003

3D design software is adopted in the manufacturing process of electrospindles

2004

The company obtains the Sandvik license for the production of the CAPTO® system

2005

Capellini participates for the first time in the World Machine Tool Fair: the EMO in Hannover

2007

New technologies are introduced into the production cycle: advanced simulation and virtual prototyping

2008

New expansion of the company: the department for testing electrospindles is created

2011

The new lines of standard electrospindles are presented

2012

Agreements concluded with the first foreign service partner (Deuschle®)

2015

The company enters new markets: the Global Network is developed and a distribution agreement is signed with the USA

2018

The headquarters is being renovated: new administrative and commercial offices are being designed and set up

2019

The Company celebrates its 50th anniversary

2020

Opening of the Chinese market with a new distributor

2022

The company continues to grow: purchase of a new production hall

2024

Inauguration of a new grinding department area with a related 80% increase in the overall operating surface area

  • speed up the prototyping of new products

pHILOSOPHY

Innovation has a significant impact on the entire production process, starting from the spindle components.

To obtain the utmost machining accuracy, we have adapted technology to our manufacturing process. Nothing is left to chance. The expertise and competence of our staff, and general coordination of supply chain are key factors in creating the heart of machine tools, electrospindle.

HEADQUARTERS

Spindle is the heart of machine tool. Accuracy, high level performances and functionality are necessary prerequisites. Capellini is organized so that every component is manufactured in accordance to these specifications. The headquarters consists of a 2500 square meter facility including 5 departments:

DESIGNING utilizing high level software and advanced 3D CAD instruments

MACHINING which allows flexibility in the process in order to manage all pieces during manufacturing.

FINISHING AND GRINDINGcarried out in a climate-controlled environment for the highest accuracy.

ASSEMBLY in a separate and supervised area to grant quality and efficiency

TESTING  where the product is tested according to the company’s high quality standards.

The company is provided with metrology laboratory, with temperature controlled to 20°C, crucial to avoid metal deformations and to carry out measurements with the utmost accuracy and reliability. Capellini makes use of advanced softwares for production management so as to supervise and plan each stage of the manufacturing process, granting the shortest delivery time.
